Theme
Alcohol and drugs
Aspiration
To gain a more detailed understanding of the expenditure through a ‘high level count’.
To use working across the participating organisations to deliver improvements in service outcomes and efficiency savings in relation to the chosen theme – ‘alcohol and drugs abuse’
What Leicester and Leicestershire are currently doing
To date it has:
- Chosen the theme for the programme
- Set up a virtual programme team of senior officers, drawn from across the participating organisations
- Identified the members for a new Public Services Board, which will, among other things, oversee the Total Place programme
- Briefed the consultants who will shortly be commissioned to carry out the ‘High Level Count’ and who will also help to provide costs data for the chosen theme
- Identified a number of sub-themes with the Programme Team. This framework identifies groups of people for whom service improvements are being sought
- Identified a number of existing and shortly to be launched local initiatives, which can support the Total Place programme, and vice versa
- Agreed with relevant chief executives and Professor John Benington, of Warwick Business School, that it will use middle managers, drawn from across the locality, who are attending the ‘Leadership in Partnership’ (LiP) development programme John is leading, as a source of innovative leadership for the Total Place programme.
- Set up a launch day, jointly designed and facilitated by Steve Nicklen and John Benington, on 21 July, for up to 30 people drawn from and associated to the Programme Team and from the LiP participants, to introduce Total Place and LiP and to explore their links and to hold brainstorm sessions
Leicester and Leicestershire’s final report is available at the Leicestershire Together website.
