- Offender leaving prison/young offenders’ institute
- Elderly people leaving hospital/care
- Young people leaving care system
Aspiration
To actively engage the community in defining an innovative, effective and efficient approach which allows access to integrated services across the district to support people back into independence.
What Bradford is currently doing
For the Total Place initiative:
- The Bradford District Partnership (BDP) has established the ownership of the Total Place pilot in Bradford
- The BDP has identified the key themes they want to address through the Total Place pilot
- The Total Place Project Team has been appointed with sub-theme project leads reflecting a cross section of the BDP
Bradford is in the process of finalising
- The governance structure
- The detailed scope of the sub-theme projects
- The detailed project plan
Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) has been commissioned to undertake the Total Place mapping exercise
A Total Place conference was held on the 2nd of October at Bradford City Hall. The day was jointly hosted by Bradford MDC, Bradford District Partnership, Government Office for Yorkshire and the Humber, YoHr Space and the IDeA, and was supported by Bradford’s Total Place Champion, Mark Fisher, Director Jobseeker and Skills, Department for Work and Pensions. Throughout the day delegates from across the public sector worked together on Bradford’s chosen themes, as well as more generally around counting and transformation work.

The Bradford approach

Under the governance of a Steering Group made up of the nominees of Bradford District Partnership, Bradford has established a small project team, led by Tony Reeves and Becky Hellard from City of Bradford MDC, with three theme leaders taken from the senior management of the relevant BDP partners supported by experienced resources from the Leadership Centre.
Each of the theme leaders will engage service providers/commissioners, service users and other key stakeholders throughout the process to develop an understanding of
- What we do now and how well it works?
- What is the service users experience of what we do now?
- What do we do well that we should be sharing?
- What are the barriers and issues that prevent us doing well in some areas?
- How can we remove those barriers and issues and deliver a much more effective and efficient service to the users?
- How can we make the most of the total public sector spend in these areas?
To this end we will be running a series of workshops, interviews and conversations with a wide range of Bradford citizens during the rest of 2009.
