NEURO-SCIENCE (SYSTEM 1 AND SYSTEM 2)
Kahneman
Kahneman believes that there are two different ways in which the human brain
thinks about knowing and two different ways it thinks about coherence. He
termed these System 1 and System 2. Both systems are needed but each has
a different role to play.
System 1
Effortless. System 1 thinking is automatic. It sense makes through past
experience. This means it is the fastest system. But because it makes judgements
based on quick conclusions it can be unreliable.
System 2
Effortful. Using system 2 requires deliberate thinking. But system 2 is also slow
and because of this lazy. Our brains prefer to go with the law of least effort and
so often relinquish thinking control to system 1.
